About Dalwhinnie Old School Hostel
Dalwhinnie Primary School
Dalwhinnie Old School Hostel is an owner operated hostel situated in the former Dalwhinnie Primary School within the magnificent Cairngorms National Park. The property is a charming Victorian built granite building that was constructed in the 1870's and opened in 1878. For 134 years the school provided an education for the children of Dalwhinnie and the surrounding area. It was closed in 2012 due to the school role having fallen to just 3.
The Owner
Lee has travelled extensively and stayed in hundreds of different hostels around the world. It was his dream for a long time to own his own hostel. He also has a love of the outdoors which contributed to his desire to move to the Highlands. The hostel is a labour of love, with the conversion and renovation being done by Lee himself with help from his Dad, and a few friends at times.
The Vision
The aim of Dalwhinnie Old School Hostel is to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere with modern facilities aimed primarily at backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. Of course, anyone is welcome regardless of their race, religion, sexual preference, or gender identity, and no form of xenophobia will be tolerated.
